One of the red headed twin witches brought to Akasha´s court the clash of opposing religious views led to Maharet and her sister being publicly raped as a punishment. The existence of the twins and their arrival in Akashas territory led to the Spirit Amel becoming one with Akasha and creating vampires. It was the twins that tell Akasha what she has become as punishment Maharet has her eyes poked out. Khayman the court steward makes Maharet´s sister a vampire and she in turn makes Maharet. The twins are then split up sealed into stone coffins and set adrift separately. On escape Maharet searched for her sister taking the eyes of her human victims to enable her to see. It was Maharet that confirmed that Akasha was indeed the life force of the vampires by stabbing a dagger into Akasha´s heart feeling the energy leaving her own body Maharet knows that Akasha must be kept. After Lestat has his encounter with Memnoch Maharet binds him and bricks him up to prevent him doing damage in his post Memnoch stage, once she frees him she leaves. |
